Request for minutes of decision to restrict the use of motor vehicles on Te Toiroa Road

Steve Marshall made this Official Information request to Whangarei District Council

The request was refused by Whangarei District Council.

From: Steve Marshall

Dear Whangarei District Council,

The Regional Speed Limit Review Waipu, Ruakaka/ One Tree Point (Marsden) and Vinegar Hill Recommendations Report says that:

\\ Council consulted on whether Te Toiroa
Road would remain open to vehicles,
along with a range of options as a result
of a result of a request to close the road to
vehicles. Council declined that request in
February 2019 and the road remains a
shared path for walkers, cyclists and
vehicles. //

https://www.wdc.govt.nz/files/assets/pub...

However, no record of that consultation or decision appears to be available. I believe a preliminary discussion on the matter was held on 5 February 2019 at the Infrastructure Update meeting. I don't believe the matter progressed to the Infrastructure Committee for a decision.

I'm requesting all records of the agenda item, consultation and decision/result.

ka kite ano,
Steve Marshall

Tena koe Mr Marshall,

I refer to your request of 11 April 2021 about the regional speed limit
review for Waipu, Ruakaka/ One Tree Point (Marsden) and Vinegar Hill. You
referred to [1]page 58 of the Regional Speed Limit Review Recommendations
Report  where the report stated that  Council consulted on whether Te
Toiroa Road would remain open to vehicles, along with a range of other
options.

On 5 February 2021 this matter was discussed at an Infrastructure Update
meeting. The agenda item is scheduled to be confirmed in an open meeting
of the Infrastructure Committee on 13 May 2021.

The agenda for the 13 May 2021 Infrastructure Committee meeting will be
available on council’s external website from 10 May 2021, and can be
accessed from the [2]agendas and minutes page.  We are therefore refusing
your request at this stage under section 17(d) of the Local Government
Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 on the basis that the
information requested will soon be publicly available.

If you believe we have not responded appropriately to your request, you
have the right by way of complaint, under section 27(3) of the Act, to
apply to the Ombudsman to seek an investigation and review of the
decision.

Kind regards

Theresa Dabuli
