Why are you still using fluoride and chlorine to disinfect our water?

Tania Marinkovich made this Official Information request to Watercare Services Limited

The request was successful.

From: Tania Marinkovich

Dear Watercare Services Limited,

There is a plethora of researched information now that states how harmful fluoride and chlorine is for our health. To name a few, Harmful to the Cardiovascular System, Bad for Kidney Health, Harmful to Male and Female Fertility, Calcifies the Ultra-Important Pineal Gland (you can literally see this in x-rays), Toxic to the Thyroid, Causes Arthritis, Weakens Skeletal Health and yes even the teeth, causes cancer, deterioration of cells....

Chlorine was first added back in 1800s, isn't it about time now, being that we are in 2021, that we chose a safer method?

Water can be effectively disinfected with ultra violet light with no bacteria remaining or resulting in. Water can be kept safe in its neutral state by using a combination of liquid sodium bicarbonate, potassium bicarbonate and potassium hydroxide. It acts as an antioxidant, neutralizing algaes, bacteria, yeasts, molds, parasites, exotoxins, and mycotoxins. Furthermore, it is an oxygen catalyst, helping your blood absorb more oxygen from the water you drink. This is achieved as it optimizes the water by decreasing hydrogen ions and increasing hydroxyl ions. Helps Body Absorb Oxygen, Purifies Water, Boosts The pH Of Any Water. Why aren't we using a natural way like this instead of making our bodies toxic? And please don't come back with the levels are not harmful because we drink this all through the day, every day! Of course it's harmful long term. It creates an acidic environment in our bodies which is the real cause of cancer, leukemia, disease, viruses... Our bodies need to stay alkaline and then we are not susceptible to viruses, bacteria overgrowth, diseases... Water is a God given gift. Why are you messing with it? Altering it's natural state? It's a crime against humanity. I'll repeat that, it is a crime against humanity.

Yours faithfully,

Tania Marinkovich

Dear Watercare,

But it is terrible for our teeth, it breaks down the enamel, so how do you justify that?

Yours sincerely,

Watercare Services Limited

Dear Tania

Thank you for your email.

I can confirm the water supplied by Watercare is compliant with the
Drinking Water Standards for New Zealand 2005 (revised 2018) (DWSNZ). The
DWSNZ are available online at
[1]https://www.health.govt.nz/system/files/...

Chlorine is dosed to maintain disinfection throughout the water supply.
Fluoride is added at the request of Auckland’s legacy councils (prior to
Auckland Council integration).  It is not a decision that was made by the
Board of Directors of Watercare Services or its Chief Executive.

Watercare has a comprehensive monitoring programme which is provided in
annual water quality reports on our website:
[2]https://www.watercare.co.nz/About-us/Rep...

We suggest you direct your query to the Ministry of Health who currently
set the standards water suppliers are to achieve.  As you may be aware a
bill is before Parliament that would transfer fluoride dosing decision
making powers to the Director-General of Health, and there may be an
opportunity for you to provide a submission during that process.

Kind regards,

the obvious question is - since integration occurred over ten years ago, has WaterCare actually checked that Auckland Council wants to continue fluoridating?

I have asked how many consents have been received for the fluoride medical treatment here https://fyi.org.nz/request/25628-consent...
