information concerning professional staff hires and redundancies at the
University of Auckland in 2020. This information is attached. Please note
that the information relates only to permanent professional staff members,
and does not include information about usual terminations by way of
resignation or retirement.

 

Further:

 

 1. You requested a breakdown of professional staff hires and redundancies
by “academic career level”. Professional staff hires and redundancies
cannot be broken down into academic career level as professional staff
do not have academic career levels.
 2. You requested a breakdown of professional staff redundancies by
terminated contractors. Professional staff redundancies cannot be
broken down into terminated contractors as contractors are not
professional staff.

 

This constitutes a partial refusal of your request under section 18(g) of
the Official Information Act. You have the right to make a complaint to an
Ombudsman if you are dissatisfied with this response.

Under the OIA, I am interested in knowing how many new professional staff
the university hired over 2020, and how many professional staff were made
redundant over the same period.

For redundancies, could you please provide a breakdown in terms of those
that utilised the volunteer redundancy scheme, those furloughed,
contractors terminated by the university, and redundancies by other means.

For both redundancies and new hires, could you please provide a breakdown
in terms of faculty and academic career level.
