Does TVNZ have a "Doomsday" clip?
Craig Major made this Official Information request to Television New Zealand Limited
Television New Zealand Limited did not have the information requested.
From: Craig Major
Dear Television New Zealand Limited,
I am writing to enquire about the potential existence of a "final" clip that TVNZ plans to broadcast in the event of a catastrophe that makes further broadcasting impossible.
This request was inspired by the "Turner Doomsday Video" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turner_Doo...) a clip produced for CNN and designed to be played "at the end of the world."
If such a clip exists in TVNZ's catalogue, can you please make it available to view? Alternatively, would you please describe it's content?
If no such clip exists, can I please request any information on TVNZ's plans for ceasing regular broadcasting, in an event where broadcasting is no longer possible?
Yours faithfully,
Craig Major

Dear Mr Major
I refer to your request below.
TVNZ has no such clip prepared and in a “doomsday scenario” we would
expect to remain broadcasting until we were no longer able to.
If your request refers to a movement away from broadcasting altogether to
another form of distribution (such as via the Internet) then we can
confirm that TVNZ has no plans at this stage. We currently reach our
audiences via DTT broadcasting, DTH (satellite) broadcasting and IP
(Internet). The Television New Zealand Act 2003 is not prescriptive as to
distribution of our channels and programmes, but ceasing broadcasting
would be signalled way in advance of it happening.
Yours sincerely
Brent McAnulty
