Testing For Covid 19

P Mason made this Official Information request to Ministry of Health

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for P Mason to read recent responses and update the status.

From: P Mason

Dear Ministry of Health,

Can you please answer the following questions regarding testing of Covid 19:

1. Is it correct that the test being done for Covid 19 is only 95 -96% effective?
(i.e. 0.1% or 1 in 1,000 people will not be detected)

2.If the test is only 95 -96 % effective, is it also correct that if 400 - 600 people are leaving the quarrantine facility each day then approximately every 2-3 days one person is leaving with Covid 19?

3. If there there are more tests done over a period of time does this make it more effective in detection?

4. If the testing is not 100% effective why does the Ministry of Health strategy focus on elimination of the virus?

Yours faithfully,
P Mason
