I am writing further to your request for official information:

1. Is it correct that the test being done for Covid 19 is only 95 -96%
effective?
    (i.e. 0.1% or 1 in 1,000 people will not be detected)
2.If the test is only 95 -96 % effective, is it also correct that if 400 -
600 people are leaving the quarrantine facility each day then
approximately every 2-3 days one person is leaving with Covid 19?
3. If there there are more tests done over a period of time does this make
it more effective in detection?
4. If the testing is not 100% effective why does the Ministry of Health
strategy focus on  elimination of  the virus?

As set out in section 12 of the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act),
if you wish to pursue obtaining information not in the public domain, you

Act, as set out below.

Section 12
(1) Any person, being—
(a) a New Zealand citizen; or

(e) a body corporate which is incorporated outside New Zealand but which
has a place of business in New Zealand,—

The Ministry will proceed to processing your request upon receiving
confirmation.
