Kia ora,

On behalf of Hon Kris Faafoi, thank you for your email.

While the Minister considers all correspondence to be important, and all
messages are carefully read and considered, it is not always possible to
personally reply to all emails.  As such, the following guidelines apply:

·          Invitations and meeting requests will be processed as soon as
possible and a staff member will be in contact with you in due course

·          All media queries will be responded to by a staff member

·          Requests for official information will be managed in accordance
with the provisions of the Official Information Act 1982, which may
include transfer to a more relevant Minister or agency

·          If your email falls outside of the Minister’s portfolio
responsibilities, expresses a personal view, or is copied to multiple
Members of Parliament, then your opinion will be noted and your
correspondence may be transferred to another office, or there may be no
further response to you

·          If your correspondence is to the Minister as the Member of
Parliament for Mana, this will be referred to his electorate office

Thank you for the taking the time to write.

From: Olivia Cross

Good afternoon George,

Thank you for your OIA request to Hon Kris Faafoi regarding a second
tranche of support for media.

As it stands, the scope of your request would require a significant search
through office records which would likely require refusal as per section
18(f) of the OIA (substantial collation and research) if not refined or
amended. However, before taking this step, we are contacting you to see if
you could narrow your request to assist in the management of its size. As
it stands the request would require search through all emails, internal
office discussions, correspondence with entities and any correspondence
with members of the public to ensure all relevant material within scope
has been identified.

Would you be happy to refine this request to: Formal advice (Aide
memoires, briefings and reports) received by the Minister regarding the
previously signalled second tranche of support for struggling media
companies?

As you may be aware, you are under no obligation to refine the scope of
your request and I am happy to work with you to discuss any aspects. I
look forward to your response as soon as possible.

Ngā mihi

Olivia

Dear Olivia Cross,

I am happy for the information request to cover formal advice (Aide memoires, briefings and reports) received by the Minister regarding the previously signaled second tranche of support for struggling media
companies. In terms of correspondence, I am simply after communications with coalition support parties; I would like all emails, letters and notes of meetings between your office the respective parliamentary offices of the Greens and NZ First relating to the signaled second tranche of support for media companies. Is this ok?

Yours sincerely,

George Morrison

Morena George,

I refer to your request received on 26 August 2020 and subsequently refined on 1 September 2020. In accordance with section 15(A) of the Official Information Act 1982, this email is to advise that we are extending the timeframe to response to your request by 12 working days. The new due date is Thursday 15 October 2020.

The extension is required because your request necessitates a search through a large quantity of information, and the consultations necessary are such that a proper response cannot be reasonable made within the original timeframe.

Notwithstanding this extension, we will undertake to make a decision and provide information on your request as soon as reasonably practicable.

You have the right to ask the Ombudsman to investigate and review this decision.

Ngâ mihi,
Olivia
