Data Sharing with Migration 5 Partners
Kevin Smith made this Official Information request to Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment
The request was successful.
From: Kevin Smith
Dear Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment,
New Zealand has umbrella MOAs with Migration 5 partners enabling sharing of immigration data. This allows for information sharing based on biometric and biographic data on a case-by-case basis and automated sharing using the SRTP (Secure Real-time Platform) based only on fingerprints.
The Privacy Impact Assessment published by the Ministry in May 2016 mentions "FCC data sharing initiatives will continue to progress and will likely extend further than sharing fingerprint biometrics."
Are there, or have there ever been, plans for sharing data for immigration purposes with Migration 5 partners on an automated/systematic way using only biographic data, such as names, DOBs etc? Please provide details with related documents and correspondence.
Yours faithfully,
Kevin Smith
