From: HEATH, Nicholas (Nick)
New Zealand Police
Good afternoon Thomas,
Police are needing to redeploy staff in the face of unprecedented
circumstances as we respond to Covid-19.
This will have a severe impact on our ability to respond to requests for
information under the Official Information Act 1982 and Privacy Act 1993
in a timely fashion.
Priority will be given to requests from media on matters of high public
interest. We appreciate this will be frustrating for some people but
please know we are doing everything we can to keep our communities safe.
Thank you for your understanding.

Dear New Zealand Police,
Thank you for your response to this OIA request.
I regards to question four of my request, I don't believe the response directly matches/answers the question.
The response "Police are constantly looking at the latest technology available on a regular basis to ensure they are up to date." could really be applied to almost any question involving technology or equipment.
Could I please have a direct response to question four of my original request.
Yours faithfully,
Thomas Holmes

Hi Thomas,
In regards to your follow-up enquiry about question 4 of your OIA request
relating to Police Tasers, I can elaborate that New Zealand Police are
fully aware of the next generation Taser (Taser7), however we have not
formed any business proposal to upgrade our current fleet.
We are considering the functional benefits of the new model against the
benefits the current model provides.
Any future business decision would need to weigh the cost/benefit
variables of the new model against our existing model to ensure that there
is value for money.
