Dear Dunedin City Council,

My preference is to receive the requested information via the fyi.org.nz platform.
I note the Dunedin City Council’s obligations in relation to public facilities.
Accordingly for each area designated a “Dog Park”, please provide:
(a) The last five "audits" or "evaluations" (by whatever name they are called) and all other information relevant to assessing and recording compliance with such things as (but not limited to) accessibility, safety, etc.
(b) The schedules and plans to maintain compliance, or where required, achieve or improve compliance.
Please also state whether this work is funded from Dog or General revenue.
Yours faithfully,

Rachael Nicoll

Dear Rachael

I refer to your email dated 5 September 2019 requesting information on Dog
Parks.

Your request has been considered under the Local Government Official
Information and Meetings Act (1987) (LGOIMA) and I have provided a
response to the three questions separately, for clarity:

 1. The last five audits or evaluations (by whatever name they are called)
and all other information relevant to assessing and recording
compliance with such things as (but not limited t0) accessibility,
safety etc

There are no scheduled audits of the Dog Parks. The Animal Services
Officers do regular checks of the dog parks during their normal patrols.
If they identify any issues or have a problem bought to their attention,
these are addressed as soon as possible.  It has been found that this
method of inspection is more beneficial rather than solely relying on
specific time frames and formalised audits.

 2. The schedules and plans to maintain compliance, or where required,
achieve or improve compliance.

As advised above, the Animal Services Officers do regular checks of the
dog parks during their normal patrols.  If they identify any issues or
have a problem bought to their attention, these are addressed as soon as
possible.  It has been found that this method of inspection is more
beneficial rather than solely relying on specific time frames and
formalised audits.

 3. Where this work is funded from Dog or General Revenue.

Funding for the on-going maintenance work comes from the General Budget.
Items such as lights and water taps are funded from the Reserve Fund,
where all residual funds from the Animal Services budget is held at the
end of each financial year.

I trust that this answers your enquiry.

Yours sincerely
