There are 42 people that 'administer' the CCC's Facebook Page, plus 2 others that are based in the USA.

How much of FTE staff is spent administering the Council's social media platform on Facebook?

Are the two USA based administrators ad agencies or private citizens?

I am a candidate in the Local Body Election, I am aware that my response will be posted on the CCC's website. This request is being made publicly on the FYI website.

Council Response

 

The total of FTE staff who use social media as part of their work is
extremely difficult to ascertain with certainty. This is because it's a
communications channel that has become part of day-to-day roles and
responsibilities for Council staff across many Council units and teams.
Staff use social media to communicate directly with our residents.

Users of the channel include staff in Media, Communications, Marketing,
Customer services, Libraries, Recreation and Sport, the Christchurch Art
Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū, Parks, the Botanic Gardens, and Human
Resources.

Fourteen people from Christchurch City Council’s Public Information and
Participation Unit have editorial or administrative access to our main
Facebook page. Our Citizens and Customer Services After Hours Team also
has access to social media so they can respond to posts outside normal
working hours where necessary.

We don’t have any USA-based administrators. 

 

Therefore, we have decided to refuse your request under the following
section of the LGOIMA - 17(e) – the information requested does not exist
or cannot be found.

 

You have the right to request the Ombudsman to review this decision.
