TICS Bill impacts in NZ IT Sector

David Robinson made this Official Information request to Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment

The request was successful.

From: David Robinson

Dear Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment,

Under the Official Information Act I would like the following information.

During formation of the Regulatory Impact Statements for the Telecommunications (Interception Capability and Security) Bill:
1. Was the economic impact on the NZ IT sector considered?
2. If so what are the projections and how will it affect IT Exports.
3. Was the affect on foreign outsourcing IT services to NZ considered?
4. If so what are these affects?
(Focusing here on IT companies not Telecommunications companies for the above 1, 2, 3 and 4)
5. Was the impact to all NZ businesses considered if Google, Microsoft and the like stop providing their cloud service to NZ businesses?
6. If so what were these impacts?

I would prefer to receive an electronic response. Queries about this request will be automatically forwarded to me by the fyi.org.nz website.

With regards to s12 of the OIA, I am an NZ citizen and in NZ.

Yours faithfully,
David Robinson
