I refer to your request of 9 July for information relating to drug arrests and convictions.

"How many convictions were made in Southland for possessing methamphetamine from January 1 2018 to July 9 2019?
How many convictions were made in Southland for distributing methamphetamine from January 1 2018 to July 9 2019?
How many convictions were made in Southland for manufacturing methamphetamine from January 1 2018 to July 9 2019?
How many convictions were made in Clutha for possessing methamphetamine from January 1 2018 to July 9 2019?
How many convictions were made in Clutha for distributing methamphetamine from January 1 2018 to July 9 2019?
How many convictions were made in Clutha for manufacturing methamphetamine from January 1 2018 to July 9 2019?"

The above information related to convictions is not held by Police. Police believes that this information is more likely to be held by the Ministry of Justice.

I am therefore transferring this part of your request to the Ministry of Justice pursuant to section 14 of the Official Information Act 1982.

Good afternoon,

 

Acknowledging receipt of your Official Information Act request for
information on convictions for methamphetamine possession, distributing &
manufacturing from Jan 1 2018 to July 9 2019 in both Southland and Clutha.

 

We have passed this on to the relevant business unit for response.

 

You can expect a response on or before 21st August 2019. Please note only
the above will be answered by the Ministry of Justice – the remaining OIA
request still sits with New Zealand Police.
