Number of people who file IR3R's for property held by 2 or more people.

Mr Anstiss made this Official Information request to Inland Revenue Department

The request was refused by Inland Revenue Department.

From: Mr Anstiss

Dear Inland Revenue Department,

I would like the following information:

The number of tax payers who file tax returns for rental property where the property is jointly owned by two or more owners, for each of the last 5 years.
Broken down by at least the following groups - Married couples, Civil Union Couples, couples in a de facto marriage relationship in terms of the property relationships act, any of those categories of couple who jointly own a property with a third party.

For clarity, I am interested in understanding how much duplication of data entry is caused by requiring couples (especially) to complete tax returns as individuals for assets jointly owned.

Yours faithfully,
Barclay Anstiss
