Dear Jackson, Lydia,
Thanks for sending the response.

I just want to clarify because the response is a bit vague.

Are you telling me that the court staff and registry has no guidelines/ SOP or instructions on what information/ advice they can provide the self-represented litigants in the family court? Does it mean that they leave it to the court staff and registry to decide if they want to provide information/advice to the public?

Yours sincerely,

Zane Collins

Ministry of Justice

Kia ora Zane,

The Ministry can only reiterate what was said in our response to you dated 14 May 2019.

Court staff will usually direct self-represented litigants in the Family Court to information on the Ministry's website. This information can be found here: justice.govt.nz/family/about/without-a-lawyer/. There are no written guides or policies for court staff to direct self-represented litigants in the Family Court.

Ngā mihi,

Lydia Jackson
