Jay made this Official Information request to University of Auckland
This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Jay to read recent responses and update the status.
From: Jay
Dear University of Auckland,
May I know the 25th and 90th percentile, mean, and median LawGPAs of the graduating cohort (or those who have met the graduating requirements) between 2020 and 2025? Please include all graduates of the LLB program, namely those doing conjoints and Honours.
Yours faithfully,
J

Dear Jay,
I refer to your request of 8 January 2026. The University’s response
follows.
The University does not hold the LAWGPA statistics requested. LAWGPA is
calculated at the end of Law Part 1 for entry into Law Part 2, and is not
linked to degree completion/graduation. Your request is refused under s
18(g) of the OIA.
You have the right to make a complaint to an Ombudsman if you are
dissatisfied with this response.
Yours sincerely,
Farleigh Quinlivan

Dear Farleigh Quinlivan,
Apologies for the wrongful terminology I used. I would like to know the 25th and 90th percentile, mean, and median Programme GPAs of graduates when they meet their requirements under their LLB & Conjoints (incl. Honours). I would like to know their GPAs in regard to only the law papers they took over their academic career (though if possible with their conjoint programme as well, then I would request that data too).
Yours sincerely,
Jay

Dear Jay,
I refer to your request of 13 January 2026. The University’s
response follows.
‘Apologies for the wrongful terminology I used. I would like to know the
25th and 90th percentile, mean, and median Programme GPAs of graduates
when they meet their requirements under their LLB & Conjoints (incl.
Honours). I would like to know their GPAs in regard to only the law papers
they took over their academic career (though if possible with their
conjoint programme as well, then I would request that data too).’
I have been advised that the University does not hold these statistics and
cannot readily create them by generating reports from our systems. Your
request is refused under section 18(g) of the OIA.
You have the right to make a complaint to an Ombudsman if you are
dissatisfied with this response.
Yours sincerely,
Farleigh Quinlivan

Dear Farleigh Quinlivan,
Thank you for your prompt response. I am unsure if I am referring to a different data set, but I would like to have those statistics be derived from the same one that Tim had requested to your office on the 19th of January 2024. If it is not possible to get all the quartiles, median, and mean numbers, I would like to request whatever is available from those options or anything you deem to be similar enough.
Yours sincerely,
Jay
