Kia ora Shelia,
I refer to your information request dated 29 November 2025 in relation to
Council Vehicles. Your request is being considered under the provisions
of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987
(LGOIMA).
We need you to clarify parts of your request in order for us to fully
consider the information you are asking for. Can you please clarify your
request as below:
Your question 1: “How many vehicles do council own or lease - Please
provide the total number of leased and owned vehicles?”
o Can you please confirm what you mean by ‘vehicle’. For example, are
you referring to Council’s fleet of on-road vehicles such as cars and
utility vehicles, or are you referring to off road vehicles such as
quad bikes and other agricultural vehicles, or are you referring to
both.
o Can you also please confirm that the clarification you provide above
applies to all questions where ‘council vehicle’ is mentioned.
Your question 4: “Please state the total amount of Fringe Benefit Tax paid
in respect council vehicles?”
o Can you please clarify the time frame your question relates to. For
example, are you wanting to know the total amount of Fringe Benefit
Tax in respect of Council vehicles payable this financial year, or
what was paid last financial year, or something else?
Your question 7: “The total annual cost to maintain and run council
vehicles? This should include fuel, maintenance, insurance and tax as a
minimum.”
o Can you please clarify the timeframe your question relates to. For
example, are you wanting to know the total annual cost to maintain and
run council vehicles for the last financial year (2024/25) or
something else?
Please note that any clarification or amendment of a request is considered
to be a new request for the purpose of calculating the maximum statutory
timeframe for response, as per section 13(7) of the LGOIMA.
We look forward to receiving your clarification. Please note that no
