I refer to your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request of 14 July 2025 below.

Police have transferred your request in two parts to Ministry of Justice, and to Wanganui District Council, as the information to which your request relates is not held by Police, but is held by these agencies.
In these circumstances, we are required by section 14 of the OIA to transfer your request.

To Ministry of Justice:
The number of charges, prosecutions and convictions under the Prohibition of Gang Insignia in Government Premises Act 2013. To be clear, I request data for these Acts from the date of royal assent to the date of repeal for each Act.

To Wanganui District Council (under the LGOIMA):
The number of charges, prosecutions and convictions under the Wanganui District Council (Prohibition of Gang Insignia) Act 2009. To be clear, I request data for these Acts from the date of royal assent to the date of repeal for each Act.

You will hear from both agencies concerning your request in due course.

The response was due to you on 11 August 2025, so I write to apologise for
the delay and reassure you that the Police data team are in the final
stages of review and approval, then the response will be release to you.

 

You have the right, under section 28(3) of the OIA, to make a complaint to
an Ombudsman about this delay.  Information about how to make a complaint
