Dear Mark,

I refer to your request which we received on 14 March 2019, regarding a copy of the entire agreement between the council and the NZTA for processing Auckland Regional Fuel Tax rebates.

Under the Land Transport Management Act 2003, NZTA is responsible for collecting the regional fuel tax and any related penalties, and administering the provision of regional fuel tax rebates.

Rebate eligibility is set out in both the Land Transport Management Act, and the Land Transport Management (Regional Fuel Tax) Regulations 2018.

There is no other agreement in place between Auckland Council and NZTA in relation to rebates.
