defined in section 2 of the Official Information Act), and, if so,
disclose the name/names of these other person/persons

•       advise whether your request for official information was made at

(with personal identifier removed).

 

E.g.,

Please can you indicate which candidates are Rural, Disability, MPAS,
Graduate, FY as appropriate, and which were accepted vs waitlisted vs
declined.

 

Please make your algorithm explicit.

Dear Ms Roe,

 

I refer to your request of 10 January 2019 for information concerning the
University’s MBChB programme.

 

Your request for 2015-2019 rank lists for MBChB candidates is refused
under s 9(2)(a) of the Official Information Act, to protect the privacy of
the persons to whom it relates. Removal of candidate names and ID numbers
would not sufficiently protect the candidates’ privacy interests in this
information.

 

You have asked for the University to provide you with the ranking
algorithm used. The formula used to generate ranking scores for General,
Regional Rural (RRAS) and UTAS (Disability, Low Socio-Economic, Refugee)
Categories is as follows:

 

{(applicant's GPA-mean GPA)/Std Dev GPA} X 0.6 +

{(applicant's Interview score-mean Interview score)/Std Dev Interview
score} X 0.25 +

{(applicant's average UMAT score-mean average UMAT score)/Std Dev average
UMAT score} X 0.15

 

Note – Mean and standard deviation are calculated from the scores for
First Year and Graduate applicants independently. All shortlisted
applicants for final selection are ranked by each category. 

 

You have the right to make a complaint about this response to an
Ombudsman.
