NZ Super - Expert Group established to provide independent advice on welfare system improvements
Guenter Langenbucher made this Official Information request to Carmel Sepuloni
Response to this request is long overdue. By law Carmel Sepuloni should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.
From: Guenter Langenbucher
Dear Carmel Sepuloni,
can you please explain why the NZ Superannuation sec 70, is out of the scope of the Welfare Expert Advisory Group (WEAG)?
Why is the NZ Superannuation not part of the NZ Welfare system?
You are using an outdated legislation (sec 70) to confiscate self funded overseas pensions
(equivalent to kiwi saver) and denying rightful earned pensions to people, who paid their taxes for more than 20 years in NZ and should qualify to receive the NZ Super!
This fills your coffers every year with NZ$400 millions and growing! Do you call this fair?
If you have just a bit of conscience, you as Minister should stop this injustice immediately!
Stop this corrupt behaviour now - lets do this.
Yours faithfully,
Guenter Langenbucher

Dear C Sepuloni (MIN),
Thank you for your reply to my FOI.
You mentioning that the work of the WEAG relates to means tested benefits.
Well, my and my wife's pension is means tested by the MSD.
Can you please explain why our pension (benefit) is then excluded from the scope of the WEAG?
Yours sincerely,
Guenter Langenbucher
