Partnership with NZUSA to prevent sexual violence
David Farrar made this Official Information request to Accident Compensation Corporation
The request was successful.
From: David Farrar
Dear Accident Compensation Corporation,
I am requesting under the Official Information Act all documents and information regarding the partnership with the New Zealand Union of Students’ Associations (NZUSA) to prevent sexual violence in tertiary education settings.
This includes (but is not limited to) any contracts, correspondence, e-mails, reports, evaluations and updates. I would also like details of how much of the $1.4 million announced has been paid out, and what the deliverables to date have been.
My postal address is PO Box 12270, Thorndon, Wellington. Under s16(2) of the Official Information Act, my preferred way of receiving a response is by email to the address from which ACC received the original request, not by post".
Yours faithfully,
David Farrar

Good afternoon Mr Farrar
Your request is very broad, and it is likely to take a substantial amount
of time to identify and collate all of the information that your request
covers.
Given this, we ask that you clarify and refine your request. In
particular:
o Is the scope of your request limited to the recent contract with
NZUSA, or does it cover all dealings between ACC and NZUSA in relation
to sexual violence prevention?
o You request for emails and correspondence potentially covers thousands
of emails, and from numerous staff. Are you able to refine this part
of your request to clarify what emails are of particular interest to
you?
Please reply by close of business Friday 8 June 2018, clearly outlining
the details you are requesting.
Please also contact us if you would like assistance with clarifying your
request. We will be happy to answer any questions or, if you have any
concerns, work with you to resolve there.
The Act allows a 20 working day timeframe for an agency to make a
decision on a request it has received. Once ACC has received a response to
this clarification, the 20 working day response time may start again.
Kind regards
Government Engagement and Support

Dear Terence Routledge,
Thank you for the reply. I am happy to clarify.
My request is limited to the recent contract with NZUSA, not all other dealings between ACC and NZUSA in relation to sexual violence prevention?
In terms of specific documents and correspondence, I am particularly interested in the contract for services, any evaluation of what gains ACC hoped to make from the contract, any evaluations of how NZUSA has performed, and why the contract was suspended or terminated. Also any concerns over behaviour of employees at NZUSA which relate to this contract.
Yours sincerely,
David Farrar
