Dear Department of Corrections,

 

After reading that your dept is to receive a  $200 million funding boost I
recall back to my days as a prisoner at Rangipo Prison . One day we were
informed that we had to leave South Camp because it was being closed . As
an inmate there I can assure you that the camp was in perfect running
order , the huts had flushing toilets heaters and running water and the
kitchen and laundry facilities were fine.

How many prison camps are currently sitting idle and unused in our prison
system ?

Is the closure of such camps a way to secure extra funding by claiming
that they are obsolete or unsafe ?
