Dear Ms Morse

I refer to your request of 9 April 2018 for the following information:

“Please provide any information about and communications with Thompson &
Clark private investigators covering the period 2015-2018. I am happy to
receive this material electronically.”

Could you please clarify your request and provide us with details as to
what specific information you are seeking.  The scope of your request is
quite broad and providing precise dates of these communications would
require Police to undertake a thorough search of numerous databases,
including individual staff email accounts.

Otherwise, Police are obliged to decline your request pursuant to section
18(f) of the Official Information Act 1982 as the information requested
cannot be made readily available without substantial collation or
research.

Kind regards

Salote Talagi

Dear Valerie

I refer to your Official Information Request of 4 May 2018 for the
following information:

The purpose of this email is to notify you that Police requires an
extension of time in which to respond to your request, pursuant to section

be made within the original time limit.

Dear Salote Talagi,

You advised me on 1 June 2018 that you required until today - 2 July - to respond to my OIA request regarding Thompson & Clark. My original request was made on 9 April, and subsequently Police sought a narrowing of that request nearly a month later on 3 May. Again nearly a month later, on 1 June you advised me that you were seeking an extension until today. Today's workday has come and gone, and I do not yet have a response from Police. Could you please advise when I might reasonably expect to hear a response from you about this matter?

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,

Valerie Morse

Dear Salote Talagi/Cameron Bayly:

Thank you for your response to my OIA. I am disappointed that the Police are attempting to obstruct access to information that is clearly and presently of great public interest. It would have been possible for you to write to me at any time within the past month to suggest I further clarify my request. Instead you waited until it was past even the extension you set for yourself only to tell me that you weren't going to bother answering me.

Furthermore, since the State Services Commission is currently investigating links with TCIL across all of the state sector, it isn't unreasonable for me to draw a conclusion that the Police might be proactively collating this material to provide it to the SSC.

Nevertheless, I will again narrow my request to make it more readily answerable. I seek all information held by Police relating to Thompson & Clark concerning:
-Oil Free Wellington from the period 2014-2018
-Peace Action Wellington from the period 2015-2018
-Auckland Peace Action from the period 2016-2018
-Climate Justice Taranaki from the period 2014-2018

Thank you
Valerie Morse
