Dear Ministry for Primary Industries,

I request any and all information about wild snakes in New Zealand, in particular all information, documents, emails and official correspondence about snake sightings in Grey Valley or the wider west coast/Greymouth/Hokitika areas of the South Island. Please exclude any information about sea snakes that have washed up on New Zealand beaches or snakes that are in zoos.

As mentioned on your other request, I am the advisor working on these
responses. As with your previous request, this is a very broad request
which is likely to cover many documents. I am aware that MPI did an
investigation into a suspected 1994 sighting in Grey Valley. Would you be
happy to narrow your request to investigation reports relating to this
particular suspected sighting?

request. As you may be aware, the OIA requires a decision to be made as
soon as practicable. As such, in the absence of this clarification, MPI
may need to consider refusing this request as it would require substantial
collation and research.
