Minister of Immigration In regards to immigration policy changes and consultations as discussed with the media
J L Fairburn made this Official Information request to Iain Lees-Galloway
This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for J L Fairburn to read recent responses and update the status.
From: J L Fairburn
Dear Immigration Minister Iain Lees-Galloway,
In the stuff article 'Regional immigration policy to tackle labour shortages, Minister says' https://www.stuff.co.nz/timaru-herald/ne...
The Minister said that immigration policy be part of a 'government wide response' in regards to 'recognising both skill shortages and labour shortages', 'consultation on Government policy was carried out by the Ministry for Business, Innovation and Employment', and that The Minister 'looks forward to meeting with a wide range of stakeholders'.
I submit the following inquiries:
1. What is the currently discussed 'government wide response' and how is this expected to effect the current levels of net immigration and if the numbers will differ from the Labour Party's 2017 general election campaign promise to cut net immigration by 20,000 - 30,000 per year?
2. I request a copy of the report of the 'consultation' on immigration policy carried out by the Ministry for Business, Innovation and Employment
3. I request a list of any 'stakeholders' that have contacted or attempted to contact the Ministry of Immigration or the Ministry for Business, Innovation and Employment in regards to immigration policy
Yours faithfully,
J L Fairburn
