Long Bay-Okura Marine Reserve.

Graham Carter made this Official Information request to Auckland Council

Response to this request is long overdue. By law Auckland Council should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.

From: Graham Carter

Dear Auckland Council,

We have received information that sediment is running off into and affecting the Long Bay-Okura Marine Reserve.
'Weitibay Development' is developing a ‘gated subdivision’ at Long Bay North of Auckland which is where the alleged run-off is coming from.
The Long Bay-Okura Marine Reserve is a 980ha protected area at Long Bay on the North Shore in the Auckland Region of New Zealand. It was created by Order in Council in 1995, and is NZ's largest estuarine marine reserve
The developers are supposed to have sediment control measures in place to get their resource consent. Has the Auckland Council been notified?
How many inspections have been carried out of the subdivision?
Is the Council aware of the level of sediment run-off?

Yours faithfully,

Graham Carter

From: Graham Carter

Dear Auckland Council,

This is a joke and disgrace to our environment. The development is clearly breaching the Resource Management Act and the Council is protecting developers. The Council is a disgrace to NZ'ers and ratepayers.

Yours sincerely,

Graham Carter
