Detailed postelection coalition negotiations between NZ First and both major parties stemming from results of 2016 General Election.

Roger Stratford made this Official Information request to Winston Peters
The request was refused by Winston Peters.
      From: Roger Stratford

    Dear Winston Peters,
You have advised the country live on television one evening in October this year of NZ First's decision to form a coalition government with Labour, which includes the Greens. Although you have explained the policy and ideological reasons for this decision, it remains unclear as to how your party could not equally have formed a coalition agreement with National instead.
I allege that you entered the postelection negotiations period in 2016 with a preconceived or biased mindset based on party political considerations rather than having New Zealand's best national interests at heart. The outcome of your faction's decision will therefore directly affect the welfare of New Zealanders for generations to come.
I therefore make this request to you now to release a transcript of all verbal and written communications between yourself in particular and the major players you were negotiating with, including, but not limited to, the leaders of the NZ Labour and National Parties. The scope of this should include outlaying strategies and ongoing position alterations that compelled the NZ First Board to favour so decisively, one outcome over the other, which we all accept has lead to the swearing in of the new Government Treasury benches under Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.
I consider that you conducted the said negotiations in your capacity as a Member of Parliament and therefore this matter is of sufficient public interest to require your attention.
Yours faithfully,
Roger A. Stratford,
Hamilton.
