The request was successful.

From: Ryan S

Dear Ministry of Social Development,

Could you please release the following information in regards to the Ministries Internet Data usage.

What is the ministries standards or code of conduct for staff internet usage?

If one exists, do staff sign the agreement?

How much data is used by the ministry on a yearly basis?

If possible, what 10 websites have the highest data usage by staff members, and how much data is being used on these websites on a daily/monthly/yearly basis? (If you are unable to break it down by these amounts it would be helpful to put it into an average or some sort of scale that is readable)

Who is the ministry contracted to regarding providing internet services?

If possible, what is the cost to the ministry each year of these contracts for internet services?

Yours faithfully,

Ryan S

Mr Ryan S

[1][FYI request #6796 email]

Dear Mr Ryan S

On 3 November 2017, you emailed the Ministry requesting, under the
Official Information Act 1982, the following information:

·         What is the ministries standards or code of conduct for staff
internet usage?

·         If one exists, do staff sign the agreement?

·         How much data is used by the ministry on a yearly basis?

·         If possible, what 10 websites have the highest data usage by
staff members, and how much data is being used on these websites on a
daily/monthly/yearly basis? (If you are unable to break it down by these
amounts it would be helpful to put it into an average or some sort of
scale that is readable)

·         Who is the ministry contracted to regarding providing internet
services?

·         If possible, what is the cost to the ministry each year of these
contracts for internet services?

The Ministry has decided to grant your request in part. However, it will
take some time to prepare this information for release. The information
will be sent to you by 18 January 2018, earlier if we are able. Please
note that the period commencing 25 December 2017 and ending 15 January
2018 does not count as 'working days' as defined in section 2 of the
[2]Official Information Act 1982.

The parts of your request that have not been granted in full are the
following two components:

·         How much data is used by the ministry on a yearly basis?

·         If possible, what 10 websites have the highest data usage by
staff members, and how much data is being used on these websites on a
daily/monthly/yearly basis? (If you are unable to break it down by these
amounts it would be helpful to put it into an average or some sort of
scale that is readable)

These two parts of your request are refused under section 18(g) of the
Official Information Act as the information you have requested is not held
by the Ministry in the way in which you have requested it and I have no
grounds to believe that the information is held by another department or
Minister of the Crown or organisation. The Ministry will provide you with
information in relation to these two questions that addresses the intent
of your request as best as possible with the information available to the
Ministry.

If you wish to discuss this decision with us, please feel free to contact
[3][MSD request email]

If you are not satisfied with this decision, you have the right to seek an
investigation and review by the Ombudsman. Information about how to make a
complaint is available at [4]www.ombudsman.parliament.nz  or 0800 802 602.

Yours sincerely
