Tax debt written off and impaired
Lisa Marriott made this Official Information request to Inland Revenue Department
The request was successful.
From: Lisa Marriott
Dear Inland Revenue Department,
In a prior OIA request, I asked for information on the value of tax debt written off, excluding penalties and interest. You advised that the information was not available excluding penalties and interest, and pointed me to the amounts reported in the annual report - thank you.
In the 2016 annual report (page 110) the amount of $680,383,000 is reported as "impairment of debt and debt write-offs". This amount includes general tax, working for families tax credits and KiwiSaver debt. Can you provide the breakdown of how much of the $680 million is general tax, working for families tax credits and KiwiSaver debt please?
Many thanks,
Yours faithfully,
Lisa Marriott
