Dear Karl,

REQUEST FOR INFORMATION

I refer to your Official Information Act request dated 16 October 2017 in
which you requested:

“I would like the number of incidents and there dates for burglary/theft
the Police attended on Sabana Place, Unsworth Heights Auckland for the
period 1/1/2012 to 1/12/2012.

I am an NZ citizen and reside on the above mentioned street.”

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide the requested information as New
Zealand Polices follow the guidelines laid out by Statistics NZ and the
Official Information Act. We must refuse your request for statistics by
specific street as to protect the privacy of natural persons. [Please
refer to section 9(2)(a) of the Official Information Act].

Victimisation statistics are publicly available at meshblock level from
the Victim Time and Place Report at policedata.nz for the period from July
2014 to September 2017. Victimisations statistics are not available prior
to July 2014 due to an upgrade in New Zealand Police statistical series.
Please note that the Victims Time and Place Report excludes all homicide
offences and all dwelling offences aside from burglary.

The meshblock applicable to Sabana Place is 0180816.

The victimisations in this report can be broken down by offence type, such
as Burglary and Theft.

If you are not satisfied with my response to your request you have the
right to complain to the Office of the Ombudsman and seek an investigation
and review of my decision.

Yours sincerely,

Dr Gavin Knight
