Minister for Climate Change Issues did not have the information requested.

From: Dr Terrence Loomis

Dear Minister for Climate Change Issues,

In a June 18, 2017 NZ Herald article titled 'Celebrities, scientists join new nationwide push for action on climate change," you were quoted as saying that the government was doing a range of work to address climate change including "eliminating fossil fuel subsidies".

In accordance with the Official Information Act, I would to request the following information:

a) Policy work the government is currently doing around elimanating all types of fossil fuel exploration, production and consumption subsidies.

b) Actions the government has undertaken to reduce or eliminate fossil fuel subsidies since January 2016.

c) Policy work, negotiations or consultation the government is currently undertaking to reduce taxpayer liability from subsidising the decommissioning of petroleum production operations.

d) The government's target date for eliminating all fossil fuel exploration and production subsidies; and the target date for eliminating all consumption subsidies.

I have submitted these same questions to the Minister of Energy and Resources, in anticipation that you may wish to refer them to her or seek her comment.

I would prefer to receive an electronic response. Queries about this request will be automatically forwarded to me by the fyi.org.nz website.

With regards to s12 of the OIA, I am a New Zealand citizen and resident in New Zealand.

Yours faithfully,

Dr Terrence Loomis
