Information relating to a Code of Practice for Landsape Assessment - 0772-01RFQ

Leah Alexander made this Official Information request to Ministry for the Environment

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Leah Alexander to read a recent response and update the status.

From: Leah Alexander

Dear Ministry for the Environment,

Recently MFE and NZILA? called for quotes for a Code of Practice for Landsape Assessment which was awarded. I understand that shortly following the award, the project was abanondoned and the funding withdrawn.

I would like to obtain
- the business case (or correspondence) that analysed the need for the Code of Practice for Landscape Assessment project.

- the corresponding reports / documents / emails/ decisions that resulted in the project being abandoned by MFE.

- any subsequent information that indicates whether or not the project will go ahead in the future.

The reason for my request: I am an experienced urban planner and have recently enrolled in a Masters of Landscape Architecture with Unitec in Auckland. My Masters topic is looking at the need for a code of practice for landscape assessment (or other methodology) and I am particularly interested in looking at how cultural considerations / Maori principles in particular might inform that methodology. As there has already been some high level work done on the need for a Code of Practice for LA, I would like to fully understand the drivers for that work stream and why the project did not proceed. The information is directly relevant to my thesis.

Tender Name : Code of Practice for Landscape
Reference # : 0772-01-RFQ

Hi Justin I'm still waiting for the official response following my telephone conversation with you that clarified my request - which I thought was already pretty clear. Since it was fairly straight forward, I wonder if you have forgotten to respond. Im just looking for the business case and or other records that officially established and disestablished the project. Quite a large sum of money was allocated initially so it would have needed approval and justification. I dont think this request involves a large volume of information. I realise there are still a couple of days to go but hope this is on track as I have a research proposal due that depends on it somewhat. I assume there is a robust process for for deciding which projects are funded and which are not.
