Funding to Kiwirail by 5th National Goverment
Iain Palmer made this Official Information request to Minister of Transport
The request was partially successful.
From: Iain Palmer
Dear Minister of Transport,
Since the current Government has taken office on 19 November 2008, how much funding has KiwiRail received?
Outside of direct KiwiRail funding, what over funding has been spent on Rail over the same time period?
Yours faithfully,
Iain Palmer

Dear Mr Palmer,
I would like to clarify your OIA of Thursday 9 February to Hon Simon
Bridges, Minister of Transport.
You have asked: “Since the current Government has taken office on 19
November 2008, how much funding has KiwiRail received?
Outside of direct KiwiRail funding, what over funding has been spent on
Rail over the same time period?”
Can you clarify the second sentence – is the word ‘over’ meant to read
‘other’? Could you also give an example of the specific kind of
information you were looking for?
Cheers
Ken

Dear Ken Ng,
Thanks for your reply confriming my grammar error, the second question should have read.
"Outside of direct KiwiRail funding, what other goverment funding has been spent on rail over the same period."
An example of an answer the above could be;
$75m for electric trains in Auckland through Auckland Transport.
An example of an answer for the first question could be;
$50m over the period 2008 - 2016 with a highlevel brake-down for years and areas spent (say for example metro area, freight network, rollowing stock)
Yours sincerely,
Iain Palmer
