Dear Julian

We have received your Official Information Act request sent via email on
16 November 2016.

You ask:

·         Please provide a copy of the employment contract for Housing New
Zealand staff.

·         Please advise the number of sick days Housing New Zealand staff
are entitled to per annum.

·         Please advise whether a medical certificate is required for sick
leave, and if so, where this requirement is located in their employment
contract.

Attached is a copy of our 2014-2016 Collective Agreement.  Note that we
are currently in bargaining with the PSA for a new one.

Appendix 1 (below) is the extract of the existing 2014-2016 Collective
Agreement pertaining to Sick Leave entitlements and the provision of
medical certificates.

I have not attached a copy of the Individual Employment Agreement, as this
can change depending on the employee, but will attach the standard Sick
Leave entitlements and the provision of medical certificates clauses as
Appendix 2 (below).

Hopefully this meets your requirements.

Regards

Sick Leave

After six months continuous employment you are entitled to 11 days sick leave,
and a further 11 days after completion of 12 months service. Thereafter you will
become entitled to a further 12 days sick leave after each 12 months of
employment. This may be taken when you are unable to work because:

(a)        you are sick or injured;

(a)        a family or household member has become dependant on you
through illness or injury.

Your sick leave may be accumulated from year to year, and is not capped. Unused
sick leave has no monetary value and will not be paid out when you leave Housing
New Zealand.

To assist with the smooth running of Housing New Zealand, you will provide
advice of any absence to your manager as early as possible on any day you take
sick leave.

Medical certificates

A medical certificate may be requested to support any absences due to ill
health, in accordance with the Holidays Act 2003.
