pet protection like Moonbeam

Gary Stephenson made this Official Information request to Prime Minister

The request was refused by Prime Minister.

From: Gary Stephenson

Dear Prime Minister,
Given that Hon John Key, when asked about Gareth Morgan’s goal to get rid of all cats, Hon John Key referred to his own pet cat Moonbeam saying, “Moonbeam is as safe as house. If you’re talking about feral cats on the DOC estate, their time is limited.”

Given that a companion animal can be a pet cat, dog, rabbit, parrot…….

Can the Prime Minister give me the same reassurance that my pet rabbits will be as safe as a house under the Ministry of Primary Industries efforts to eradicate feral rabbits.

If not – why not and what is the difference?

Yours faithfully,

Gary Stephenson

Dear J Key (MIN),

My question was that given that you stated Moombeam would be as safe as houses under the predator free program, but feral cats on doc land have their time limited, Can you, as Prime Minister having given that reassurance about pet cats, give me the asssurance that my two pet Rabbits will be as safe as houses under the Feral rabbit eradication program.

If not, why should there be a differnce between how different dometic pets are treated?

Yours sincerely,

Gary Stephenson

Dear Keegan Platten,

My Request was very specified as has not been correctly answered.

So I will repeat my very specific question that requires a very specific answer.

Given that Hon John Key, when asked about Gareth Morgan’s goal to get rid of all cats, Hon John Key referred to his own pet cat Moonbeam saying, “Moonbeam is as safe as house. If you’re talking about feral cats on the DOC estate, their time is limited.”
