New Zealand' success in the International Mathematics Olympiad
Dr Robert Shaw made this Official Information request to Ministry of Education
The request was successful.
From: Dr Robert Shaw
Dear Ministry of Education,
New Zealand's success in the International Mathematics Olympiad is probably more important to our country than our success in any rugby game. It is this competition which sets a nation up as competitive and smart in the eyes of the world and supports an innovation economy.
What is the government doing to advance us in the various mathematics competitions?
How much government money has been spent in the last 5 years to support our competitors?
Is the government satisfied with what has been achieved in this competition to date?
Does the Ministry or the Government have specific policies and goals regarding mathematics competitions?
Thank you.
Yours faithfully,
Dr Robert Shaw
