Employment Standards Legislation Bill - Whangai

Emma Moody made this Official Information request to Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment

Response to this request is long overdue. By law Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.

From: Emma Moody

Dear Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment,

I am journalism student from Whitireia Journalism School.

I am writing a story about the new Employment Standards Legislation Bill, which came into effect on April 1. More specifically, the family guardians of whangai children who are now entitled to paid parental leave.

I would like to make a request under the Official Information Act, which will be used in a story to be published on Whitireia's news site. (www.newswire.co.nz)

I am looking for all correspondence that occurred with the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment and the Hon. Steven Joyce's office concerning the inclusion of whangai in the new Employment Standards Legislation Bill between the dates of January 1, 2015 and April 1, 2016.

If possible, may you please provide the information to me as a Microsoft word document attachment to this email address: [email address]. Taking in to account the 20 working day time frame for set out for Official Information Act requests, I understand I should receive this information by Monday 16 May. If there are any problems processing my request, or a change in the parameters of my questions is necessary to process the information let me know.

Yours faithfully,

Emma Moody.
