Information relied on by Judith Collins to claim her car crushing legislation is working

Greg Presland made this Official Information request to New Zealand Police

Response to this request is long overdue. By law New Zealand Police should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.

From: Greg Presland

Dear New Zealand Police,

In the Herald today there is a very obsequious article extolling the virtues of Judith Collins' car crushing legislation. The article is at http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/articl...

Clearly the article relies on information provided by her office. Can you provide:

1. A copy of all correspondence or information sent by her to the Herald,
2. A copy of the analysis used to justify the claims.

Yours faithfully,

Greg Presland

Greg,

The instructions from Police above are incorrect. Your request has been received by Police, and now they are required by law to respond to it. Please remind them of this.

Authorities cannot insist on you using their forms or to deliver your request by a specific means.

I should also add that your request will almost certainly be transferred to the Minister for Police (Judith Collins). Police themselves won't know what correspondence the Minister's office has had with a journalist.
