Thank you for your email of 28 June 2026, in which you submitted an Official Information Act request as follows:

"(1) Please provide any advice, briefings and official correspondence the minister has received regarding respite funding for the carers of autistic New Zealanders, this includes:

(a) away-from-home or in-home respite for disabled people who cannot tolerate residential or facility-based respite.

(b) support for single parents/caregivers of disabled people who cannot tolerate residential or facility-based respite, so that they can work or take a break away from home.

(2) Please provide any advice, briefings and official correspondence the minister has recived regarding recalculation of future flexible-funding allocations based on individuals' spending between June 2023 and June 2025, including any analysis of the impact on people who underspent during the period the March 2024 purchasing rules were in force.

(3) Any advice relevant to the above to questions given to minister Penny Simmonds while she was Minister for Disability Issues."

Minister Upston is considering this request in accordance with the Act, and you can expect a response by Monday 27 July 2026.
