Time-based alibis - procedure request
cybercourtnz made this Official Information request to Ministry of Justice
This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for cybercourtnz to read recent responses and update the status.
From: cybercourtnz
Dear Ministry of Justice,
I have a clean criminal record, but many charges have been raised against me. I am establishing their baselessness.
Please provide details of the method by which I can obtain precise timestamps and dates of when my acts constituted the raising of each and all of the charge(s) against me. Documentation provided to me by Police and Justice, et al. has no such details though I fully expect systems I cannot currently access or modify do have such details.
Hence, this OIA.
Yours faithfully,
cybercourtnz

Thank you for your email of 1 May 2026 to the Ministry of Justice (the
Ministry) seeking court information under the Official Information Act
1982 (the Act).
While the Ministry provides administrative support to the courts, courts
are a separate and independent arm of government not subject to the Act;
see section 2(6)(a) of the Act. Access to court information is managed by
the courts under separate legislation and court rules.
We therefore refuse your request under section 18(g) of the OIA on the
grounds that the information you requested is not held by the Ministry or
any other agency subject to the Act.
If you would like to request court information, you need to apply to the
court under the appropriate court rules. The form to do so is available
at: [1]MOJ0148.2-Application-for-access-to-court-docs.pdf.
Once your application is received, a decision on your request will be made
by a registrar or judge and there may be a charge. The contact details
for all courts are available at: [2]Find us | New Zealand Ministry of
Justice.
You have the right under section 28 of the OIA to seek a review of the
Ministry’s response from the Ombudsman. The Ombudsman’s contact details
are available at: [3]Ombudsman New Zealand | Tari o te Kaitiaki Mana
Tangata.
Thank you for taking the time to write.
