I refer to your official information request received on 15 February 2026 in regard to expressions of interest for appointment to the District Licensing Committee.
Our response
Council's Manager Governance advises:
Q1. How public nominations were called and on what platform public nominations were advertised e.g. govt.jobs website.
A1. We advertised on the PN City Council website and Facebook page. We sent a link to the advertisement to the NZ Law Society, for publication in ‘Branch Notices’ (regional) and ‘Law Points’ (national). We also invited expressions of interest from Elected Members; refer attached email and circulated the advertisement listing to regional governance advisors in Horowhenua, Manawatū, Whanganui, Tararua, Rangitīkei (regional territorial authorities in the Horizons region) to share with their local District Licensing Committee members
Q2. A copy of the ad and pay rate
A2. Please see attachment for the advertisement which includes the rate of pay.
Q3. How many applications were received for each of the roles from the public and how many received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women etc.
A3. We received 10 applications in total from members of the public, and five expressions of interest from elected members.
Q4. How many have been shortlisted and how many were interviewed.
A4. All five elected members were interviewed by the selection Panel. The Panel has shortlisted six of the community applicants; these will be interviewed next week.
Q5. A copy of the appointment letter sent to the appointee/s 6. How many vacancies exist for this round.
A5. We don’t have an appointment letter yet as appointments are still to be made. Two current members’ terms expire in March. The Panel has not yet determined how many appointments it will make.
