Currently waiting for a response from New Zealand Police, they must respond promptly and normally no later than (details and exceptions).
From: F Cook
Dear New Zealand Police,
I reside in New Zealand and am a New Zealand citizen.
I request the following information to be provided through a formal response.
It is noted that: "From December 2025, Police began testing drivers in the Wellington region which will expand across New Zealand with all regions expected to be roadside drug testing by mid-2026."
https://www.police.govt.nz/advice-servic...
Can it be detailed the national rollout plan for use of oral fluid testing.
Including:
- What is the mid-2026 date indicated
- Are there other deciding factors on a national rollout outside of time & procurement of the tests themselves
- Will media reporting be engaged as oral fluid testing rolls out
- Will oral fluid testing be rolled out nationally all at once
- If not all at once, when will each region will next see oral fluid testing in use, by each region
- How many oral fluid test devices will be expected to be available for the police force to use within 2026, 2027, & 2028. By year, (by each region if allocated regionally)
Yours faithfully,
F Cook
