Metadata relating to the Latitude Financial Services Investigation
Charlie Drummond made this Official Information request to Privacy Commissioner
The request was refused by Privacy Commissioner.
From: Charlie Drummond
Dear Privacy Commissioner,
Tēnā koutou,
This is a request for official information under the Official Information Act 1982.
I am seeking information regarding the joint compliance investigation into Latitude Financial Services, which the OPC and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) announced on 9 May 2023.
I am not seeking any information that would be prejudicial to the investigation, such as the substance of correspondence or the details of evidence. My request is limited to metadata that would establish a high-level timeline of activity and demonstrate the "liveness" of the investigation.
Please provide the following information for the period from 9 May 2023 to the date of your response:
Correspondence with Latitude Financial Services:
- The total number of pieces of correspondence sent by the OPC to Latitude Financial Services.
- The total number of pieces of correspondence received by the OPC from Latitude Financial Services.
- The date of the most recent correspondence sent by the OPC to Latitude.
- The date of the most recent correspondence received by the OPC from Latitude.
Correspondence with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC):
-The total number of formal communications (e.g., emails, letters, scheduled meetings) between the OPC and the OAIC regarding this joint investigation.
- The date of the most recent formal communication between the OPC and the OAIC regarding this investigation.
Internal Milestones:
-The number of formal internal progress meetings or briefings held by the investigation team.
- The date of the most recent formal internal progress meeting or briefing.
I believe this request for metadata does not impinge on the substance of the investigation and therefore should not be withheld under section 6(c) or section 9 of the Act.
If possible for the purposes of the act, please share any documents such as meeting minutes, project calendars, roadmaps, or timelines. that summarise or track the progress of the investigation.
The purpose of this request is to gain an understanding of the procedural timeline and current status of the investigation, not its content and I hope you will comply with this kaupapa as fully as you are able to.
Please provide this information in an electronic format.
Yours faithfully,
Charlie Drummond
