Dear Auckland Council,
I am a student who is curious about the permit process that Auckland Council has put into place to control vehicles at Muriwai and Karioitahi beaches per the Council's Vehicle Use and Parking Bylaw.
I would like to know how many permits have been historically granted to allow vehicles to drive on Muriwai and Karioitahi beaches. And how many permits are currently held and valid per beach.
I would also like to know how many permits have been revoked. If possible also I would like a list of reasons why permits were revoked. These can be short/ one word descriptions E.G speeding, driving at high tide, driving on dunes etc.
I am also curious about what purposes the permits were granted for per the reasons given on the permit form. As per the form these are: sightseeing, fishing or shellfish gathering, launch and retrieval of a water craft or boat, surfing, picnic, other. This would be the number of permits held per reason.
Also a list of reasons that permits were granted for under "other". These can be short/ one word descriptions E.G dog walking, photography, rubbish collection etc.
To be clear, in all of the above, quantity of permits is per vehicle.
I respect that permits may contain private information and do not expect the Council to share private information in this request.
Yours faithfully,
Matthew Lloyd
