I would like the university to send a spreadsheet of all the University of Auckland International School Leaver Scholarship given to school leavers in the past five years (2020-2024). Specifically, I am seeking the following information:
[1] The total number of applicants for the scholarship each year.
[2] The number of successful applicants each year.
[3] The number of unsuccessful applicants each year.
[4] The median value of the scholarship per successful applicant.
[5] The median rank score of successful applicants each year.
[6] The median rank score of unsuccessful applicants each year.
[7] The number of successful applicants who met the rank score requirement each year.
[8] The number of successful applicants who didn't meet the rank score requirement each year.
[9] The number of unsuccessful applicants who met the rank score requirement each year.
[10] The number of unsuccessful applicants who didn't meet the rank score requirement each year.

I refer to your request of 25 September 2025, in which you requested
information about the UoA International School Leaver Scholarship for
2020-2024. The University’s response follows:

$20,000 (for each year from 2020-2024)

The University does not hold the rank score statistics requested. These
parts of your request are refused under section 18(g) of the OIA.

These scholarship regulations are published on our website at

This constitutes a refusal of your request on the ground the information
requested is publicly available.

As stated in the scholarship regulations: “The Scholarship will be awarded
by the University of Auckland Council on the recommendation of a Selection
Committee comprising the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Strategic Engagement (or
nominee), the Director International (or nominee), and three faculty
Associate Deans (International).”
You have the right to make a complaint to an Ombudsman if you are
dissatisfied with the University’s response.
