Toan made this Official Information request to University of Otago

Currently waiting for a response from University of Otago, they must respond promptly and normally no later than (details and exceptions).

From: Toan

Dear University of Otago,

Since the application period ended on the 14th of August, I would like to request information about the number of applicants who applied to MbChb, MDS, and BPharm in 2025 for the 2026 professional year via all possible pathways (including the international pathway). The applicants who applied via the graduate pathway could be excluded if there is no information about it at the time of the request.

Besides, I would like to know the entry grades into MbChB, MDS, and BPharm in the last five years through all the available pathways (including the international path). Please include the minimum score required for a waitlisted offer, the range of time during which waitlisted offers are made to students, and the minimum score needed for a first-round offer.

Yours faithfully,

Toan

Dear University of Otago,

I would like to clarify my previous request. The minimum score of a waitlisted offer is the lowest score of a student who has been waitlisted and received the offer, not the minimum score to be on the waitlist.

Thank you.

Yours faithfully,

Toan

From: UoO - Official Information Act
University of Otago

Tēnā koe Toan

I acknowledge receipt of your Official Information Act request dated 11 September 2025.

Could we please ask you to clarify your request? You have referred to 'MDS' which may refer to the discontinued Master of Dental Surgery programme, or more likely, you intended to refer to the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programme. If we don't hear back from you, we will consider your request to refer to BDS rather than MDS.

If we have any further questions or need to seek further clarification on any points, we will be in touch soon. Otherwise, we will seek to respond to your request as soon as practicable and no later than 20 working days after the date your request was received (by 10 October 2025). If we are unable to respond to your request by then, we will notify you of an extension of this timeframe.

Dear UoO - Official Information Act,

Thank you for your response.

The programme that I referred to as MDS in the original request is actually the BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery programme), not the Master of Dental Surgery.

Yours sincerely,

Toan
