I noted the recent Justice of the Peace (JP) appointment. May I please ask:
How many applications were declined this round?
How many applications are currently pending a decision?
What is the total number of JPs in New Zealand at present?
How many individuals currently hold a retired JP status?
Additionally, have you received any advice or guidance regarding a potential shortage of JPs? If so, could you please share the details of that advice? 

We will endeavour to respond to your request as soon as possible and in any event no later than Friday 19 September 2025, being 20 working days after the day your request was received in our office. If we are unable to respond to your request by then, we will notify you of an extension of that timeframe.
