Port Hills 2024 Losses

Alan Thompson made this Official Information request to Fire and Emergency New Zealand

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Alan Thompson to read a recent response and update the status.

From: Alan Thompson

Dear Fire and Emergency New Zealand,

The Operational Report and the FENZ Annual Report for that year both recorded that one dwelling (a shipping container) was destroyed but that "other assets and critical infrastructure saved". Other media has since reported significant loss of infrastructure occurred as a consequence of the Port Hills Fire.that resulted in a loss of commercial services and the replacement of equipment and buildings.

Under the provisions of the Official Information Act I request the following information:

1. Were there any other assets or critical infrastruture other than the shipping container dwelling lost during the Port Hills (2024) fire that were not recorded in the Annual Report and the Operational Report?

2. If there were other assets lost that were at risk as reported, was FENZ aware of these and what steps were taken to protect them?

Yours faithfully,
Alan Thompson
