The Information and Records Management (IRM) team are currently working on
your OIA requests. We note that these requests are resource intensive. We
would therefore like to check your eligibility to make an OIA request.
Section 12(1) of the OIA defines those who are entitled to make a request
under OIA as:
• a New Zealand citizen;
• a permanent resident of New Zealand;
• a person who is in New Zealand;
• a body corporate (i.e, company or incorporated society)
which is incorporated in New Zealand; or
• a body corporate which has a place of business in New
Zealand.
We note that email addresses are redacted on Fyi. Therefore, please
contact the IRM team through the Contact us function on the Official
Information and Records webpage on UC’s website with proof of your
eligibility.
With regards to the timeframes, the University changed its Research
Management System this month. To prevent the need to search multiple
systems, would it be acceptable to you to amend the end date for the
timeframe 30 June 2025?

Dear Information and Records Management,
My eligibility to make an information request under Section 12(1) is my New Zealand citizenship. What proof of this is required? If the required verification involves personal legal documentation, does the University of Canterbury therefore wish to not fulfil partially anonymised requests for information by citizens?
The end date may be amended to 30 June 2025.
Yours sincerely,
D. Gray

In working through the response to this and your three other OIA requests,
due to current workloads in the IRM team, consultations necessary to make

cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit.
Therefore, the response deadline for this request is briefly extended
until Friday 29 August 2025.
